Great Racer Ed Tourje Passes Away

Longtime Great Racer Ed Tourje, who navigated with his son Steven on just about every event since 2003, passed away earlier this week. Ed and Steven were very popular on the Great Race, as were their flathead Ford Coupes, “Stella” and Stella II.” His service information can be found here:

Ed was competitive but more than anything he loved being around the other racers and they loved being around him. Fellow Great Racer Jody Knowles summed it up best in a Facebook post: “A single conversation across the table with a wise man is better than ten years mere study of books!” Honored to have more than one with both of these fine men. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steven Tourje and family in this time of loss! So thankful that we are involved with such a great group of fine men and women in the Great Race. Call it what you may – a race, a hobby, a rally – at the end of the day, it’s a life changing adventure of great friends and memories, and we’re all family! You will be missed dearly Mr. Ed!
