Creating a Place for Young People in the Old Car Hobby
Through the X-Cup Division and X-Cup Legacy, students are given the opportunity to become part of Great Race in a meaningful way. They are not simply watching from the sidelines.
They work on vintage cars, navigate the same roads, face the same challenges, learn alongside experienced competitors, and become part of a community that extends far beyond race week.
Entry fees are covered for ten student teams, helping remove one of the biggest barriers to participating in Great Race.
Students learn by doing while competing across the same roads, stages, and conditions as the rest of the Great Race field.
Racers, mentors, educators, mechanics, sponsors, and students come together through a shared passion for the automotive hobby.

What the X-Cup Experience Creates
Access
Covering entry fees for ten X-Cup teams helps make Great Race participation possible for schools and student programs that might otherwise be unable to take part.
Hands-On Experience
Students work directly with vintage vehicles and gain practical experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, navigation, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Mentorship
Great Race places students alongside experienced racers, mechanics, collectors, volunteers, and automotive professionals who can share knowledge built over decades.
Collaboration
X-Cup teams compete on the road, but they are also encouraged to share knowledge, solve problems together, and support one another throughout the event.

X-Cuppers compete as part of the same Great Race community as teams who have been involved in the event for years or even generations.
They leave with more than miles behind them. They gain experience, relationships, confidence, and a firsthand understanding of what it takes to be part of the sport.
Scholarships That Carry the Experience Forward
The impact does not end at the finish line. X-Cup Legacy raises scholarship funds to support participating students as they continue into college, technical education, and trade programs.
An annual auction helps generate funding for those scholarships, turning the generosity of the Great Race community into opportunities for students after race week is over.
Building Connections That Last Longer Than the Race
One of the most valuable parts of Great Race cannot be measured on a scoreboard.
Students spend race week surrounded by people who build cars, restore them, collect them, race them, manufacture parts, run businesses, teach, volunteer, and keep the automotive community moving.
Those relationships can become mentors, internships, career connections, future teammates, and friendships. Eventually, today's X-Cuppers can become the people welcoming the next generation into the sport.
