2022 Great Race: Hagerty Trophy Run

The Friday before the green flag drops is always an exciting day on the Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty Drivers Club. We started the day with a huge meeting that included all staff, drivers, navigators and support crews. All together, we had more than 500 people on hand. The morning meeting gives us a chance to get everyone together for important updates. From there, it was time for Rally School and then the teams rolled out of the hotel for the Hagerty Trophy Run. This is what we consider a "warm up" for the big show, as it gives the teams a taste of what is coming their way when the green flag drops! Today's route made its way through the back roads of Rhode Island, and then back to the host hotel. A storm came through toward the end of the day's route, adding an extra challenge for the teams. Upon returning to the hotel, we noticed a few cars in need of repairs, and a flurry of activity in the parking lot to prepare for tomorrow. Finally, we had our annual Friday night banquet with special guest Dick Shappy (you'll see him in the winner photos). Congrats to Jody Knowles and Beth Gentry for placing first in the Hagerty Trophy Run!
