Dana and Doug Sharp Win the 2018 Pumpkin Run Rally

October 25, 2018

Dana and Doug Sharp have again won the Pumpkin Run in Millsboro, Del., in their 1916 Hudson. Dana subs for Doug’s father Howard on this event. The couple from Fairport, New York had a two-day score of 15.84. They were followed by the father-son team of John and Greg Hudson from Baldwinsville, New York with a score of 27.20 in their 1940 Chevrolet. Both teams also finished in the top 5 overall in the 2018 Great Race. Third place went to another father and son team, Bryan and Ian Deering from Michigan in their 1935 Ford with a score of 28.05.

We are happy to report that Dave Haverty and Tom Kucera were fourth in their 1937 Ford with a score of 40.08. Dave missed several days on the Great Race this year due to health problems, and we are glad to see him back in his rally car.

Bob Bryan puts on a fantastic event in Delaware each October, and next year he is going to host a rally in the Spring. You can get all of the details at www.northeastrallyclub.com.

OLIVIA AND GENNA GENTRY WIN THE 2021 GREAT RACE!
    JUNE 27, 2021

The 2021 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty Drivers Club is in the books! We saw record crowds at our hosted city stops, we saw a rookie team take the top daily score, and today, Sunday, June 27th HISTORY was made! For the first time ever, an all-female team WON the Great Race! Olivia Gentry and her sister Genna put together an incredible nine-day effort to take home the victory and $50,000! Olivia drove her heart out, while Genna managed the calculations to keep them on target. This exceptional team work was executed behind the wheel of a 1932 Ford five-window coupe, which utilizes a 21-stud Flathead V8, three-speed manual transmission and, of course, whitewall tires from Coker Tire! Emotions were at an all-time high during the finish line presentation, and the crowd erupted when the Gentry girls were announced as the Grand Champions! Their score of 41.31 seconds is astonishing, and the young women took the victory by nearly nine seconds over their mother, Beth Gentry, who placed second with her nephew Jody Knowles. Congratulations to all of the winners in each division. Take a look at the finish line festivities as well as the photos from our Awards Banquet.
