2025 is flying by and it’s already the first weekend of May, which means it’s time for the Coker Tire Great Race Spring Rally presented by Stahls Automotive Collection. This year, the Spring Rally is held in Owensboro, Kentucky, a familiar place for the Great Race family. We have a lot of great memories here, including an outstanding hosted evening stop in 2021, the Grand Start in 2024, and now the Spring Rally. Plus, we’ll be coming back to Owensboro for a hosted evening stop on the Great Race in just a few short weeks. Today kicked off the Spring Rally, which is a three-day cloverleaf style event, meaning that each day goes out and then comes back to home base in Owensboro. This is a laid back event, but the competition is strong with nearly 80 teams competing for cash prizes and plenty of bragging rights heading into the big show next month. Today’s route offered a great view of the rolling hills and farm land of Kentucky. We stopped for lunch in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and then hopped back on the clock for a challenging afternoon route, which was intensified by a round of thunderstorms. Most of the teams made it back to the hotel unassisted, but we’re betting a lot of repairs and clean-ups are taking place in the parking lot as we put together this coverage.
