The Feeney’s Visit Lucy on the Way to California

June 12, 2019

Every year for the Great Race participants choose a variety of ways to get to the start city. Some, in fact the majority this year, call Reliable Carriers and have them pick up their vehicle and deliver it and then catch an airplane to the start destination. Others have a support truck and trailer and bring the vehicle out themselves. And there is the hard core crowd who drive their old car. John Hudson always does it that way. And so do Louise and Jim Feeney. This year, while on their way from Endicott, N.Y., to Riverside, Calif., for the start of the Great Race, the Feeneys decided to stop in Jamestown, N.Y., and visit Lucille Ball’s gravesite. And keeping with the theme going of “California Here We Come,” they wore their Great Race T-shirts with Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel driving across the George Washington Bridge from the 1950s sitcom “I Love Lucy.”
