October 28, 2019

Two-time Great Race Grand Champion Rex Gardner has informed us he has lung cancer. It was just diagnosed this week and he is going to Tulsa for further tests to find out the level of seriousness it is. Rex has been a regular Great Racer since the second event back in 1984, winning twice with Gary Kuck in a 1917 Hudson Indy racer. Rex has campaigned his 1935 Ford Coupe for the last decade with his grandson Kolton raising money for the fight against Autism. Through the Great Race and his VCRA events, Rex has raised nearly $1 million, including nearly $55,000 on this year’s Great Race. Rex said this week that the annual All-Stars for Autism Rally in Springfield, Missouri will go on as planned in early May. You can email Rex at [email protected] or you can send him a card to 62001 E 327 Road, Grove, OK 74344. We will keep you posted as we learn more information.
