Great Race Welcomes Coker Tire as Presenting Sponsor

March 31, 2023

The Great Race, the world’s premier time speed endurance rally for vintage vehicles, has announced that Coker Tire Company is now its presenting sponsor. Coker Tire has supported the Great Race in many ways since the 1990’s, providing sponsorship, as well as volunteer help, tire service and much more. With this new agreement, Coker Tire stepped up from its previous major sponsorship role into the presenting sponsor position.

The 2023 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Coker Tire travels from St. Augustine, Florida to Colorado Springs, Colorado, over the course of nine days: June 24 to July 2.

Coker Tire CEO Mike Kealey said, “Collector car enthusiasts have a choice when it comes to tires, and we’re glad the Great Race community values the authenticity and reliability of our products for such a demanding rally.” He continued, “Approximately 80 percent of Great Race participants trust Coker Tire products to go the distance on the Great Race and we’re proud to step up as presenting sponsor of this outstanding event.”

Great Race Director, Jeff Stumb said, “Coker Tire is a company that suits the Great Race very well, as most of our participants are regular customers.” He continued, “The new presenting sponsorship agreement will put Coker Tire’s brand in front of new potential customers, as this event travels 2,300 miles of America’s back roads and reaches millions of people via social media each year.”

  • Hi,
I have been tracking this race for almost every year. In 2011 I followed the cars, all the way from Tennessee to Vermont. I drove a little Dodge 600 convertible and stayed in the cheapest motels I could find. By the time I got home to Rome, GA. I had driven exactly 2,600 miles, and used 100 gallons of gas, 26MPG, not to bad for an old K-car.
Now, I have a question/request. When I went, I of course did not have a route map. Having a GPS, I just set the destination for the next stop, specified the ‘shortest route”, no “highways” ie. freeways, and let it rip. I traveled a lot of really interesting roads (some of which I wondered if they were really roads!).
What I would like to know, is do you ever publish the old route maps, or even portions of the old routes. I’m not wanting the time breakdowns, just the routes that were followed. I think some of them would make great weekend drives.
