Friday Great Race Action in St. Paul

Great Race 2013

We had some major storms last night and a chance of rain again today…bad news for our racers in open cockpit cars! Despite the soggy night/morning, we made it to the Back to the ’50s Weekend early in the morning and spent the day at the event. We also hopped out on the highway for the Hagerty Trophy Run to get some practice in for the big day tomorrow and had special guest Wayne Carini (from Chasing Classic Cars TV show) join the fun. AND he got an Ace, with the help of Navigator, Theresa Coker! After spending a few hours on the road, we made it back to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds for the Parc Ferme, and then the kick off reception. And THEN the rain came! Needless to say, it was a long drive back to the hotel. Either way, check out our favorite shots of the day and stay tuned for daily updates of the 2013 Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty.

  • Wish there was an exact route published. . .the “Great River Road” varies depending on who one is talking with. We’re thinking that between Dubuque and Davenport we should be able to watch along IA 67. We’ll be south of Leclair, IA and hope to see y’all.

  • hope you come down hwy 93 south from EauClaire to Lacrosse. I will have my 1929 Ford Sport Coupe, if it doesn’t rain on Skyline drive South of Arcadia.
    Good luck to all.

  • Saw a couple of the cars on 35W Northbound in South Minneapolis on my way to work Friday. The cars made me smile and the drivers looked like they were all enjoying the morning. I do feel sorry for the drivers of open cockpits. Not a good evening for them. Enjoy your journey.
