Day 1 Recap from Olivia Gentry

June 24, 2017

Today, the 2,300 mile journey from Jacksonville, Florida to Traverse City, Michigan began. Over one hundred and twenty cars left Main Street of Jacksonville, Florida eager to begin this journey. As I sat in line, before heading through the gate as an competitor, I couldn’t help but relive a few memories of my own. From riding support with my Grandma, as my Mom, and Grandfather were competing, to selling programs for the past six years. One of my dreams came true today, and I couldn’t be more excited to share this journey with my best friend, and my Sister, Genna. We are so excited to have Rome Grinding Solutions come on as a sponsor, and can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for us. Today, after leaving Jacksonville, we made our way to Tifton, Georgia where we were greeted with friendly smiles, good food, and home made peach ice cream.

Genna and I had an absolute blast today on the course and finished third of forty teams in the rookie division, and forty-fourth of one hundred and twenty teams overall. Not our best day, but tomorrow is a new day, and Genna, and I are completely overjoyed to be traveling through our home town, Newnan, Georgia. We hope to see all of our friends there. We will also be finishing overnight in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Hopefully, Genna, and I will be able to pull everything together for a successful day tomorrow.
