The Great Race may be behind us, but in just over two months it will be time for the 8th annual Coker Tire Challenge in Chattanooga. And if you register before July 31, you can save $100 on your entry fee. The Challenge will begin on Thursday, Sept. 19, with registration and tech inspection at Coker Tire headquarters in downtown Chattanooga. The host hotel will again be the Staybridge just across the street. Entries from as far away as New York and Texas are already in.
The rally will begin Friday morning with a trek toward Tullahoma, Tenn., before returning to a BBQ bash at Coker Tire that evening. Saturday will be a big day with the Coker Tire Challenge cars being the highlight of the AACA Southeast Divisional Meet in Cleveland, Tenn. More than 300 cars will be on display as the rally cars arrive for lunch. On Sunday the cars will take a quick jaunt into Georgia before the noon finish back at Coker Tire for lunch and awards presentations.
You can enter for as little as $250 if you are a rookie to $500 if you are a veteran with the early discount. Those that want to participate in the Dash For Cash can pay a little more and possibly share in the prize money.
We always encourage those wanting to experience a rally for the first time to grab a buddy and try it. For first timers it is only $125 each for three days of fast cars, food and fun. Any questions should be directed to Raime Brown in the Great Race office at 423-648-8573.
