Great Racer Cameron Coker Passes Away

March 11, 2021

Cameron Coker of Chattanooga, who participated in multiple Great Races as a navigator, has passed away after a tragic one-vehicle car wreck two days ago. Cameron participated with his dad, Corky Coker, while in his teens and later with former Grand Champion Greg Cunningham. When his father’s company, Coker Tire, bought the Great Race in 2011, Cameron became a staff member on the event for several years as a photographer. Cameron’s mother, Theresa, was also a veteran navigator on the Great Race, and his sister, Casey, sold programs on the event, making them one of many families who truly made the event a family affair. Cameron’s wife Hillary recently gave birth to a baby boy named Thomas. Please keep the Coker family in your prayers.

  • So many great memories of Cameron as we compared our checkpoint seconds written on our hands at lunch and pit stops. He was a terrific competitor, always with a huge smile, and a very gifted photographer. Our hearts and prayers go out to Hillary and Thomas, Corky and Theresa, and all of our rally family who knew and loved him. Our time together was too short.

  • To the Coker family….We will miss Cameron so very much… your dear beloved son, brother, husband and father. Our hearts go out to you during this time of sorrow. There are countless lasting memories of Cameron…the competitor, the photographer, Theresa and Corky’s son! Wishing you peace, comfort and loving memories Cameron was a wonderful friend who lit up our lives.

  • Such a loss. Cam and I enjoyed each other’s company on all the Great Races he supported. So sorry for him and the Coker family.
