A Great Journey Ends

After being home a day from the 2016 Great Race I’ve had time to reflect on the event.  Those who have been a part of the Great Race can understand the unbelievable time that was shared with special friends who are a family. It is impossible to find words to adequately express all the fun and adventure that occurred from San Rafael to Moline. While driving on long lonely roads we saw God’s creation in beautiful spacious areas of nature. Along the way we passed folks waving and cheering. I always enjoy talking with those who come to the lunch stops and the daily finish. This year I met some remarkable people who inspired me and I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to share my faith.

It also was a time to make special memories with my best friend/husband. There was lots of talking in our car along with laughter and some serious discussions but we always knew it was a team effort to handle the rally course. After seeing our scores, which totally thrilled and surprised us, I know I have the best driver on my team.

Coming across the finish line was both happy and sad.  Happy because we completed a special adventure but sad because it was time to say good bye to our rally family. I am now looking forward to the 2017 Great Race which I know will be another extraordinary event.
