The Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagerty will enter the New Year with at least 86 paid entries for the 2014 event, Director Jeff Stumb has announced.

That is more than 30 ahead of the pace at the same time last year. That also means that there are only 14 more spots available for the 2014 race from Maine to Florida since the cutoff is 100 cars.

The Great Race will start Saturday, June 21, in Ogunquit, Maine, and travel more than 2,100 miles down the Atlantic Coast over nine days before finishing in The Villages, Fla., on Sunday, June 29. The winning team, based on 100 entries, will receive a check for $50,000. There is a total purse of $150,000.

“There are a number of regular Great Race participants who have not entered yet, as well as a number of rookies who have inquired about the event,” Stumb said. “That tells me we should be full very soon, so I would encourage anyone who is interested in competing in the 2014 race to enter as soon as possible.”
