Great Racers do the Gumball Rally!

February 20, 2013

Great Racers

I’ve often said the Great Race is more than a car event…it is a family. Today we are with that family again. We are traveling to Florida to participate in the Florida Gumball Rally with fellow Great Racers, John and Beth Coker. For this event we won’t be driving our Great Race vintage Fords but will be driving modern bright yellow Chevys.

Of course we had to stop in Chattanooga at Coker Tire Headquarters, home of the Great Race, to visit with more of the Great Race family. We spent time with Jeff Stumb, Mike Goodman and Corky Coker, reminiscing about past Great Race fun and discussing the 2013 Great Race. We are now south bound and down to the Florida Gumball Rally ready to show the competitive and fun spirit of Great Racers.

  • Hi Gary and Jean Ann,
We missed ya’ll!! What happened the Natchez Trace trip?
After ya’ll win the Gumball on your way home swing by Crowley/Lafayette and bring John and Beth!! Crawfish season kicking big time now!

Richard Fredette was here this morning helping plan the June 29,2013 Crowley lunch stop. Check my comment posted today under the December4,2012 news release(click older entries).

    Hope to see Ya’ll soon!

  • Tom, sorry we didn’t make it to LA but we certainly will be there on the Great Race. We have heard great things about Crowley and are excited that it will be a lunch stop. I have read your entry and know y’all will show us great hospitality. See you in June.

  • It was great meeting up with Gary & Jean Ann and John and Beth yesterday at the finish of the Florida Gumball Rally…we’re talking about great ambassadors of Great Race! It was great to see Billy Cothern at the finish line, also! I saw Don Garlits driving his 1938 5 window business coupe… he should be Great Racing as well!
