Bill’s short blog on Sunday morning.
Big sendoff in Chattanooga at 10 am Saturday
Left town and speedometer failed again (umpteenth time).  Had time to fix before timed section.
Speedo then worked all day.
Made wrong turn on first timed leg, but made up about 5 minutes, hacked off of another car and got a score of 4 secs. which is really good.
Second leg went well with a score of 3 seconds with no mistakes.  (Great navigator)
After lunch we started the climb over the Smokey Mountains on back roads.
Temperature gauge failed on the car so we could not tell if we were overheating.
Turned out we were overheating and we lost most of the water and the engine crapped out about 1 mile from the summit.
Spent the rest of the day on the Great Race sweep trailer with a score of 3 min on one leg and a DNF on the last leg.
Got to dinner late and almost missed seeing my mother and sister who were at the dinner stop.
The trailer delivered the car to the hotel about 9 pm and we worked on it until 11:30 last night.
Got it running and it seems to be OK, will see today.
Got up at 5:30 for breakfast and we depart today at 7:45.
I think we are going on the Blue Ridge Parkway for part of today, ending up in Virginia.
Our goal is a little lower today:  Make it to dinner on our own power!!!!!!!
