Great Race Takes Flight for the First Time

The Hemmings Motor News Great Race presented by Hagety is made up a great group of folks who spend a lot of time and energy to make the event happen. The Media Crew is also a key piece of the puzzle, providing still photography and most importantly high definition video for TV broadcast. A new addition to this year’s media team is Travis Evraets, who is giving us a new perspective. Continue reading to see what he has to say about joining the team:

“My name is Travis Evraets, I was the support team using a Budget rental truck for the 1960 Fiat 600 Multipla driven by Jim Collins(this guy), navigated by Craig Stephens(that guy) in the 2013 Mississippi Great Race. The Fiat team is returning to compete again and I am returning as part of the media team capturing the race from the air for the first time with a R/C quad copter.

Thanks to the help of Jim Bonnardel, president of the worlds largest r/c electric flying club located in San Diego http://www.sefsd.org/ who helped me get acquire a DJI Inspire 1. A fully gyro-stabilized 1080HD camera mounted to a carbon fiber aircraft that can fly up to 70mph and record perfectly smooth videos and pictures.
