Navigator of car #83 (Team Jedzie Boat) and 2012 Great Race Rookie division winner, Ian Deering, with his recent purchase…a 1964 Ford Falcon Sprint Convertible with a 260 V-8 engine and a 4 speed transmission.

Ian’s Dad, Bryan, always wanted to participate in the Great Race. In 2012 the Deering’s made it a family affair to fulfill Bryan’s dream. (Ian’s mother, Pam, and sister, Angie, also participated as the support crew.) They entered the 2012 Great Race and won the Rookie Division in Bryan’s 1929 Model A Ford.

Although Ian was exposed to antique & collectible cars his entire life he never took a serious interest in cars. However, he liked the lines of the 1964 Ford Falcon Sprint Convertible.

In December of 2012 Ian received a bachelor of business administration in management information systems degree and accepted a position at Steelcase, Inc. as a product data analyst. Being gainfully employed, and using his 2012 Great Race Rookie prize money as a down payment, Ian purchased his first classic car.

  • Ian,
I’m glad to see the money “we could have won” has been well spent.
I trust you let your father keep the eagle.
    You guys were great competition.
    All the best.

  • Hi,I’m from North Syracuse,NY and drove my 1956 Ford Thunderbird to Watertown,NY to see the Great Race come into Watertown for your overnight stop. I had a great talk with Peter Lansing,’56 Mercury convertible,he has a couple of lil early birds. My wife and I seen your
” Jedzie Boat ” entry but couldn’t find anyone around the ’29 model Ford. Glad you folks won rookie honors. Sharp looking Falcon you picked up. Still have my 1956 Thunderbird and just bought a 2005 thunderbird. Got rid of a 1989 Mustang GT convertible to make room in the garage for the new bird. Wish you luck with the Falcon and if you get back in the race “win it all”
Stop by Facebook under Bob Wituszynski and take a look at the cars.
