Hello Davenport!

June 23, 2013

Today has shown me both the beauty of America and the strength of Mother Nature. The last time that I really saw the power of water and rain was as a nine year old experiencing Hurricane Hazel in 1954.  Today, to see roads washed out, parks and communities along the river (Mississippi) completely submersed, roads washed out, trees down, power lines down, I was reminded about the power of nature! All that aside, the drive along the Great River Road is really starting to say, “Come back and spend time”… Our day included a Lunch Stop at Grand River Center in Dubuque, Iowa. The venue was inspiring and demonstrative of what urban renewal can create…a truly tremendous venue. Our Overnight Stop, LeClaire Park, was once again an amazing downtown venue in Davenport, Iowa. A large enthusiastic, and knowledgeable car crowd, including hundreds of car show folks were on hand from start to finish. They welcomed every team! Great hosts…with probably the best ribs good ol’ MotorMouth has ever eaten!

One comment about “Hello Davenport!”

  • I recall Davenport, one of the Quad Cities, from my days as a visiting research engineer at the Rusty Palace (John Deere corporate HQ) in nearby Moline, IL. Keep those announcements coming, Motormouth!
