GREAT RACE ANNOUNCES PREFERRED MEDIA PROVIDER
New York – Great Race Sports announced the selection of Medialink Worldwide Incorporated (Nasdaq: MDLK) as the preferred media provider for The Great Race 2008: New York to Paris. Medialink will be using its newly-launched Mediaseed™ product to provide Web-based news coverage of the milestone event as it circumnavigates the globe during its centennial commemoration of the Greatest Auto Race of 1908.
“Medialink is proud to help bring the world memorable images from this historic race, the revival of which spans a century that has also seen dramatic changes in communications technology,” stated Larry Thomas, Chief Operating Officer of Medialink. “While the original race is chronicled mainly in text and photographs, Medialink will be using Mediaseed’s Web platform to deliver video and other rich imagery to today’s journalists and publishers.”
“We very excited to have Medialink join us,” said Bill Ewing, CEO of Great Race Sports. “Medialink is an innovative company, which is in the spirit of the 2008 event. The Great Race is a perfect showcase for Medialink and Mediaseed and we look forward to working with them.”
The Great Race 2008: New York to Paris commemorates the 100th anniversary of one of the most remarkable automotive adventures of the 20th century — a race almost around the world in 1908, from New York to Paris. In a re-run of that milestone event, an international field of vintage and concept motor vehicles will depart New York City on May 30, 2008, and finish in Paris, France on August 2, 2008. Some of the participants will be traveling in motor vehicles powered by renewable fuels. Others will be driving classic cars in celebration of the rugged spirit of freedom and adventure displayed in the milestone race a century ago. More than 30 vehicles are expected to compete in both classes of vehicle.
Through its Mediaseed product, Medialink will host a digital newsroom for Great Race, providing video and rich media distribution coverage of the 65-day event as it travels 22,000 miles (35,000 km), across three continents and 13 countries. Mediaseed will also store, share and track assets employed in broadcast and Web campaigns for marketing, public relations or public affairs efforts.
Mediaseed is built upon a digital asset management system that Medialink deployed and integrated into its global media operations in 2006, which has now become the “heart” of Mediaseed. With Mediaseed, Medialink clients can enter their specially-designed “Control Room” to post video and other rich media, select media distribution options, and expedite delivery of content worldwide..
