The Countdown

June 16, 2012

As I cut the grass and trimmed some shrubs in the garden this morning, I couldn’t help but reflect on what a difference one week will make! Quietly alone with my thoughts… my mind raced ahead to next Saturday… excitement, 90 teams of wildly excited rallyists ready to head to the great roads through Michigan, crossing into Canada at Sault Ste. Marie. Over $5 million worth of vintage vehicles will depart Traverse City at one minute intervals with the start city crowds cheering on every entrant. Each start city is special. I know that Hagerty will be ready to kick this one off in fine style. It’ll be a long lap around the Great Lakes and as the route unfolds, huge crowds both along the way and at each of the welcoming towns and cities will line the roads cheering on the competitors. That’s what pumps me up… the folks from all walks of life who come out to share this once in a lifetime event. Each year the route differs, so for those along the way, this is your opportunity to witness this awesome event.
As I prepare to leave on Thursday, I have final scripts and some local radio spots to do prior to heading off. For Ottawa/Kanata followers, The DAWG-FM 101.9 will be rockin’ the blues to welcome our Great Racers!

For me, it’s 5 more sleeps!
