Howard and Doug Sharp Honored in Fairport, NY

The 2015 Great Race Grand Champions, Howard and Doug Sharp, were honored in their hometown of Fairport, New York last week by having the day named for them. Representatives from the Village of Fairport and the Town of Perinton were on hand. Dozens of family, friends and Great Racers turned out to congratulate them on their victory in the race from Kirkwood, Missouri to Santa Monica, California.

The Sharps, who also won the 2011 Great Race, had both of their winning vehicles displayed – the 1916 Hudson which won this year and the 1911 Velie that won in 2011. At least three other Great Race vehicles were some of the cars on display.

Past and current Great Racers in attendance were: John Hudson, Scott Hudson, David Coon, Joe Kozloski, Ray Rice, Bill Rose, Judith Rose, Rick Spurr, Sam Damico Sr., Sam Damico Jr., Whitney Brown, Karen Stumb and Jeff Stumb.
