Note: This is the final of a nine-part series of Great Race Director Jeff Stumbs thoughts on each day on the 2015 Great Race route after returning from setting up the stops for next years event. The day everyone on the 2015 Great Race has been waiting will arriving on Sunday, June 28, when each participant will cross the finish line at the Santa Monica Pier at the end of Route 66. That morning will begin in San Bernardino, and after an early morning calibration the racers will rally for a couple of hours before heading to the coast.
The final lunch stop will be held at the new Coker Tire facility in City of Industry, Calif., where the racers will wait while the scores are tabulated.
A short trip to Santa Monica will be followed by a huge celebration on the pier with $50,000 awarded to the winning team.
The rest of the $150,000 in prize money will be awarded at the closing banquet that evening.
