Day 4–Still Truckin’ in Canada!

June 26, 2012

We’re still rollin! Today, we had a long route that took us from our overnight stop in Barrie, Ontario to a lunch stop in Barry’s Bay, Ontario. It was a scenic drive with awesome views of multiple lakes and the chance to see some good ole Canadian wild life. Several of our guys saw some moose out in the wild, and the moose gets bigger every time the stories get told! We had a great ride into the small town of Barry’s Bay, where a great crowd turned out to greet the racers!

After grabbing a BBQ sandwich, we hit the road again, but decided to stop at Charlie D’s for an ice cream cone to go! That’s where the racers were restarting to get back on the clock, so it was a great stop and we enjoyed the hospitality! Back on the road, the racers were in for a huge surprise, as the route took them into Quebec, after spending a couple days in Ontario. From there, we rode into MotorMouth’s home town of Kanata/Ottawa, Ontario! The venue was at the Hazeldean mall, which has a cruise in every Tuesday night. We joined in on the fun, and made for a huge turnout of cars, people and good food!

  • The Seaway Cruisers Classic Car Club is going to try to meet you at your Clayton pit stop. Can you let us know when you expect to be around tomorrow? We’re hoping to see you there between 2-4 pm.

  • Having read of event in Bounder & misunderstood date in Ottawa, heard of the event from my son this PM, having raced @ Targa Newf*un*land. Are the cars leaving the Hazeldean Mall Wed. @ 8 AM? Would love to see this circus. Thanks for your reply. ~ cheers and safe rallying/motroing!

  • It would be great if your site had a map of the route and a schedule for all overnight stops. If there is one, I’ve missed it. This would allow interested parties to come out and cheer you guys on. It’s not often that this race comes up to Canada and I’d love to see some of the action.

    • Doh, of course I just found the info. Not in the headers, but under “Click here for info” which I thought was referring to Hemmings Motor News, not the race.

  • My daughter brought me out to the Barry’s bay lunch stop as a surprise for my June 26th birthday!I was totally unaware of the event but she heard about it came up with the plan. It was awesome to see all the different vehicles! Hope you bring the Great Race back this way again sometime!

  • The stopover in Kanata will be the highlight of the year for me since I won t be going to the vintage festival at Watkins
Glen this Sept. I took as many photos as I could till the
battery died . Hope to print them and mount them in garage
with the rest of the Classic and vintage race cars already up….truly
unbelievable…A great night …good luck on the rest of the
journey..you have to finish to win…
