Frank Buonanno will be bringing his 1915 Hudson race car back to the Great Race this summer. It is the oldest car in the 2014 race from Maine to Florida. And he and navigator Chris Clark will be trying to finish their first Great Race in three tries.

The oldest car in the 2012 Great Race was a 1907 Renault, driven by Arizona’s Alan Travis and navigated by his wife, Mary. In 2013, the oldest car was Harry Hollister’s 1913 Premier, which fell out on the Trophy Run with mechanical problems. The oldest car honors last year then fell to Buonanno’s 1915 Hudson.

Buonanno, who is from Newtown, Conn, first entered his beautiful Hudson in the 2011 Great Race from Tennessee to Vermont. Unfortunately, they never made it out of the state of Tennessee. They tried again last year and made it from Minnesota to Mississippi before having to take the car back home.

The third time should be the charm, and when the Hudson pulls across the finish line in Florida it will be one of the biggest triumphs in Great Race history.
