Great Race 2013

The rally season will kick off in a couple of months with the Penn-York Rally (renamed the Keystone Rally for 2013) in Lionville, Pennsylvania, on April 26-28. This event is put on by our good friends at the Northeast Rally Club.

It will be followed by the 8th annual All Stars for Autism event put on annually by Rex Gardner. This year it will be held in Joplin, Missouri, on May 3-5. Last year’s event in Rogers, Arkansas, was a big hit with rally teams from the south and southwest.

The Sugar Valley Rally in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, is the granddaddy of regional rallies. It will take place as usual during the first weekend of June. This year, because of the way the calendar falls, it will start May 31 and end June 2.
Of course, the big race – the Great Race – will take place June 22-30. It will start in St. Paul, Minnesota, and finish nine days later in Mobile, Alabama.

The fall season will start with the annual Coker Tire Challenge in Chattanooga from Sept. 20-22 and will be hosted by Coker Tire and Corky Coker. It averages 50 cars each September with a course designed by John Classen through the backroads of eastern Tennessee, northwest Georgia and northeast Alabama.

And, as usual, the Pumpkin Run in Millsboro, Delaware, will end the rally season in October. But big news has come to us from Delaware and the Pumpkin Run has moved to the third weekend of October. The dates for the event are Oct. 18-20. Bob Bryan and his folks put this event on and have raised more than $70,000 for the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Department.

Make your plans to attend these regional rallies and the Great Race during 2013.
