  • Hello,
It is a great thing that the”Great Race” is coming to Michigan and the surrounding area.
I would like to know if there are any organized activities for the public to view the cars before (Traverse City) or after (Henrey Ford/Greenfield Museum) the race? I would like to be able to ask some questions and get some specific photos of the speedster group.
    Thanks,

    Nick Y

    Send any reply to me.

    Thanks.

    • Yes I believe that the cars will be visible for display but it will be up to the owners. the start is a public affair basiclly on the street type of thing where they punch a time clock.

  • Normally, on Tuesday nights there is a Cruise Night at The Hazeldean Mall in Kanata Ontario.See you there on June 26th 2012.Don Elston

  • I have the same question as Nick Yak above. We have a cottage on Crystal Lake about 30 miles west of Traverse City and will arrange our vacation weeks to be able to visit the cars in Traverse City or Dearborn.

  • When will a detailed route map be available? I want to know where I can set up my lawn chair between Findlay, OH and Dearborn.
    Thanks

  • Because of the nature of the competition, the actual route is not disclosed. Only the rally master, John Classen, knows where the cars will pass. The way the course instructions work, even contestants do not fully know the route they will be taking before they are on it. The only place that we can know for sure that the cars will be at, is the parc ferme at the lunch and overnight stops.

  • We would like to visit Franklin, PA, on June 29 to see the cars while the drivers are at lunch. Can you give us an idea of when lunchtime is or how long the stopover will be?

  • The finish is at the Pierce arrow museum as I understand. Where will the participants be spending the night???? There is darn little parking at the museum.

  • I’m very excited about the Great race coming through northern michigan. I’m on Paradise lake which is US 31 just below Mackinaw City and I assume that you will be traveling through there around 11ish on the 23rd. Is this correct as if so I want to organize a viewing gallery?

  • On behalf of the Georgian Bay British Car Club We were only allowed Parking for 6 cars And advised to be there 1 Hour before any cars were expected. Time is fine, any chance of increasing our parking area? Bud McCannell

    • Good Morning if you want to make a day of it come to sudbury we are having a huge event at A&W on long lake road just off 69 south we would love to see you

      Marc

      • Be careful coming through Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. There is construction throughout the city, especially on your route. Avoid Bay street as you will be forced to back track as Queen Street is closed for a 2 year reconstruction. All the best racers. Can’t wait to see you roll through the Sault. Head east through the Sault on Albert as you leave the bridge plaza.

  • I will be camping in Traverse City on the 22nd and 23rd.Where will the cars start and will there be time to see the cars before the race? Thank you, David Strait.

  • Normally parc ferme means no access to the vehicles. Will there be opportunities to see and photograp the cars at the Hazeldean Mall despite the fact that it is a parc ferme

  • PLEASE post spectator information on the website.
    (when/where to see the cars)

by way of calling at Hagerty I learned:
    for Sat start in TC;
Parc Expose opens at 8am downtown on Front street
    First Car Off at 10am.

Best of Luck to all the ralliests and crews

  • Thanks for visiting our little town for lunch on the 29th of June. (Franklin Pa). You will love our quaint downtown. We got some fine places to eat here!

    Tim

  • Is there an estimated time when the race will arrive in Buffalo, NY @ the Pierce Arrow Museum? On Thursday 6/28/12

  • Passed several of the cars going north on I-75 from just south of Gaylord to Mackinaw City on Saturday around noon. What excitement! We had to find your website to see what it was all about. Good Luck to all the participants!

  • I went to Kewadin Casino tonite with my husband for our birthday celebration only to see all these breath taking cars..seen them in the parking lot..was so great to see was just like going back in time. we got some great pics with them,, we chatted with two guys who owned a awesome 57 chevy wagon…wished them luck on their journey for the big win….all cars had stickers on them,,the sponsors,, must of been at least 50 or more cars, some were in trailers,,he explained to us that each year they go to a different place..so glad we had the opportunity to see all of them.. Good Luck Guysss..may the best man win..hope to come back to this site and see who wins next week..

  • I forgot to mention in my message above that we were in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan at the Kewadin Casino..seen all of them in the parking lot,,what a fantastic experience..

  • Are there any Canadian entries ?? In 95 There were a goodly number as it started in Ottawa and traveled to Mexico City . All the best

Tom Murray & Brian Markel Car #1 1995

  • Im taking the day off to see the cars in Fairport for lunch. Whens a good guess when the cars will be arriving?

  • My husband and I happened to be in traverse city on saturday and experienced the fantastic cars and drivers. They were all anxious to talk about their cars and their previous experience. There were alot of people there and there was not any restriction for taking pictures. We had a great time. We live very close to the Dearborn area and will be able to see the cars on sunday as they come into the Henry Ford. What great fun… and a good cause

  • When will the cars be arriving and leaving Warren Ohio? I want to plan my visit to the Packard Museum around that.

    Thanks

  • Watched the participants come over the Thousand Island International Bridge this afternoon on their way to the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY and then on to Watertown, NY. Wonderful sight seeing them on the bridge. Many friendly waves.
    God Speed and good cruising.
    John

  • As a Photograher. How can I find out the course in ohio ? I would like to find out so I may be a head of thwe cars to photograph them.

  • The Western New York Pontiac Oakland Club was proud to be a part of this wonderul race. We welcomed the racers and crew to the Buffalo Transportation-Pierce Arrow Museum and our proud city of Buffalo. Met some wonderful people and great cars. This was a weekend to remember with Jeff Mehl, Great-grandson to George Schuster giving a wonderful presentation about the 1908 New York to Paris followed up by a Car Blessing/car show on Sunday. We look forward to their return sometime in the near future.

  • Really enjoyed watching the Great Race today on Hot Rod TV. Is there a way to get the actual highway routes from the 2012 race?
