The Rally gets Tougher with the End in Sight

June 16, 2011

For the last two days of the GR that began today, all legs count and none can be removed.  Also it always seems that the course gets more difficult on the last couple of days.  Maybe we are just tired.  We had a good run today with a total score of 25 seconds.  That put us in 21st place for the day and moved us up all the way from 47th to 41 place overall.  If we keep this up for another two or three weeks maybe we could get to 30th place!!!!  The car ran great again today with no problems.  Only thing we had to do to the car tonight was to check the fluids and wash the windshield.

Tomorrow we start in 47th position.  We have never drawn a starting position higher than 41.  Starting late tomorrow is really great since the first car gets their instructions at 5:15 am!!!  We get our instructions at 6:02 am.  The hotel is giving us a special breakfast starting at 4:30 am.  We head to Stratton Mountain, VT. where the timed portion of the race will conclude.  After lunch we will proceed to Bennington, VT for the official finish and the announcement of the winners of each class.  The day will end with a big dinner in Bennington.  It will be a long day.
